Zulum Donates 12 Vehicles To Soldiers
Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno has donated 12 operational vehicles to soldiers at Damasak during a visit to assess damages caused by insurgents during an attack on the town.
In a statement on Friday in Maiduguri, the Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Strategy, Isa Gusau, said Mr Zulum spent a night in Damasak where 18 persons lost their lives during the attack, to end speculation that the town had been taken over by the terrorists.
The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, has said the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is broke and needs better funding to carry out its duties.
Speaking at the NDDC capacity building workshop held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Friday, Akpabio said the commission needs to be better funded to improve service delivery in the Niger Delta region
He said in order for the commission to fulfill its mandate to the Niger Delta people, the NNDC must tackle the issue of bribery and corruption.
El-Rufai Denies Threatening To Arrest Abducted Students Parents
Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has denied threatening to arrest and prosecute parents of the abducted students for negotiating with bandits.
Recall that bandits had abducted students from the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Kaduna State.
10 of the students abducted on March 11, 2020 were later released by the bandits, while 29 still remain in their kidnappers’ den.
Parents of the students have raised an alarm that the bandits are threatening to kill their children held hostage.
While the parents have continued to seek dialogue with the kidnappers to help rescue their children, the Kaduna government has insisted it will not take such measure, warning of its consequences.
"FG Has Abandoned Chibok Girls" - Ndume
Senator Ali Ndume has accused the Muhammadu Buhari-led government of abandoning the Chibok community and the parents of the girls abducted by Boko Haram terrorists.
Recall that insurgents had attacked Chibok and abducted 276 schoolgirls in 2014.
Speaking to newsmen on Friday, the lawmaker accused the government of failing to rebuild the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, destroyed by Boko Haram seven years ago.
Fulani Herdsmen Invade Benue Community
Suspected Fulani herdsmen militias have invaded Mbakyondu, in Gwer-West Local Government Area of Benue State, killing no fewer that 11 persons, while others were left injured.
DAILY POST gathered that the incident occurred at about 4:am on Friday night when the residents were fast asleep.
A media aide to the LG Chairman, Mr. Udam Samuel said recovered bodies of the deceased have been deposited in a morgue at Naka, the LG headquarters.
According to him, security agencies have been deployed to the affected area to ensure that normalcy returns to the place.
