Although the report did not give full details of the incident because they were yet scanty as at press time, it did say that a security operative was reportedly killed in the course of the bandit's operation.
Eye witnesses' accounts, according to the report, claimed that the armed men also shot two students, a male, and a female. The boy got shot on the buttocks while the girl was shot in the arm.
The abducted students included males and females, according to the report.
The victims were also said to include four teachers, comprising three males and a female, and the vice-principal of college.
The gunmen were said to have invaded the college at about 12:30 pm. They reportedly engaged in a shootout with the security personnel at the school gate.
The report added that while the gunfight was going on at the gate, some of the bandits gained entry into the school premises through a portion of the perimeter fence that they broke up. On entering the school, they began to shoot indiscriminately.
They eventually made away with their victims.
The mass abduction of students by armed gangs has become a recurring decimal in northern Nigeria. Within the last six years, there have been eight such incidents, about six of which have happened between December 2020 and now.
