FG Makes New Appointment

The Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari through The National Road Safety Advisory Council has been inaugurated by the Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

The 29-member Advisory Council is a major aspect of the updated National Road Safety Strategy adopted by NEC and approved by the Federal Executive Council late last year.

Naija News understands the Road Safety Advisory Council is chaired by Osinbajo, while the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Boboye Oyeyemi will serve as Secretary.

The Vice President noted that the setting up of the council is a demonstration of the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges of road safety in the country.

Obasanjo Lands In Addis Ababa For Ethiopia's Election

Former Nigerian leader Olusegun Obasanjo, has arrived Addis Ababa to monitor Ethiopia’s general election scheduled for 21 June.

Obasanjo is the head of the African Union Elections Observation Mission to the country.

The election was originally slated for August last year.

But the COVID-19 pandemic forced a postponement by 10 months.

Peace Corps Bill To Be Passed Soon - Doguwa

A bill for an Act to establish the Nigerian Peace Corps currently before the House of Representatives is to be passed soon, House Majority Leader, Alhaji Alhassan Doguwa, has said.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Peace Corps, Mrs Millicent Umoru-Osakwuaoguwa, said that Doguwa gave the assurance during the reconstitution of the State Commands of the outfit for Jigawa, Kano and Katsina, held in Kano on Thursday.
