Police Arrest 29 ESN/IPOB Members In Imo

The Imo State Police Command on Sunday, paraded 29 suspected members of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, allegedly planning to attack the State ahead of the Sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Monday.
The State Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, who paraded the suspects at the Command’s headquarters in Owerri, said they were arrested at the various camps of ESN, in the State.
Yaro, said the Police got intelligence of the planned attack and deployed the tactical teams of the command to apprehend the suspects from their hideouts.

The leader of the umbrella body of Yoruba Self-Determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua, Professor Banji Akintoye, has reacted to media reports that he has left Nigeria to escape the plots of the Nigerian Government to arrest him.
Akintoye confirmed that he is in the Republic of Benin, but not on the run.
In a statement by his Communications Manager, Mr. Maxwell Adeleye, the Emeritus Professor of History said he is in the Francophone country to coordinate and supervise how to legally rescue the detained Yoruba Nation Activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, fondly called “Ighoho”, from government remand as soon as possible.

Plateau Governor Simon Lalong says his administration has put in great efforts to secure the state, promising that he will deal with the recent wave of killings.
“I wish to commiserate with the people of Miango Chiefdom of Bassa, and indeed, the entire Plateau citizens over the recent killings,” Mr Lalong said at book dedication on Sunday in Jos.
Tensions have been heightened around Jos since the attacks on Miango chiefdom by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

US government submit evidence against Gov Abiodun's aide

The United States government has submitted a 97,000-page material in court as part of evidence of alleged fraud against Abidemi Rufai, a suspended aide of Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.
The voluminous material was produced at the U.S. District for the Western District of Washington at Tacoma, on July 26, a court filing obtained by Premium Times stated.
“Discovery in this case is voluminous and complex,” the prosecution and the defence said in the document they jointly filed to ask for the postponement of the August 30 trial date.
Senate Lists Conditions For Creation Of New States

The Senate has listed conditions for the creation of additional states in Nigeria.
The National Assembly Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution had received dozens of requests seeking the creation of new states across the federation.
The Red Chamber said any proposal for the creation of any state must comply with the provisions of section 8 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic as amended.
