According to DAILY POST,a deadly accident which involved only one vehicle that occurred in the Edu Local Government Area LGA of the Kwara state, claimed the life of a passenger who appears to be a man while three others are currently fighting for their lives as a result of the fatal impact of the crash.
Following the information obtained by local news reporters,one Mohammed Idris, the driver of a commercial vehicle, was sent to his early grave in the above-mentioned incident that took place on Tuesday,16th May 2023 at Wariko along Lafiagi road before Gbugbu local settlement.
However,the identities of the hospitalized victims were given as Usman, Bkatachi, and Fati, a lady, precisely two men and one woman.Thanks to the swift intervention of a rescue team from the FRSC command,who rushed to the location following a distress call sent by eyewitnesses within the region.
When contacted,a correspondent of the Kwara State command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), verified the tragedy, saying that the unfortunate occurrence, which took place at approximately 10.30a.m, was as a direct consequence of the excessive speeding of the deceased driver,who was burnt beyond recognition after the vehicle caught fire.
Speaking further,the FRSC representative condemned the incident saying that,"this won't have happened if only the driver was following simple instructions.We have always begged and pleaded with road users to cut back the rate at which they speed on the road because many have died as a result of this approach but they don't want to ever listen.This is very sad".
"The three surviving victims were lucky enough to get out alive due to the quick response and intervention of FRSC officers who got there on time to save them from the ranging inferno, otherwise,they could have been sharing the same fate with the deceased",he affirmed.
In the meantime,he condemned officers of the Kwara state police command for rendering helping hands in transporting the wounded passengers to a nearby medical facility,Lafiagi General Hospital for urgent medical attention while the corpse of the deceased was taken to the morgue of the hospital.
