The Lagos State Taskforce Team on a cleanup Operation exercise on Okada Riders on the Highways and other restricted areas from Oyingbo, Stadium and Yaba Axis today, confiscated over 80 bikes from motorcyclists. See photos below.
Recall that the government of Lagos had placed a ban on the riding of motorcycle in some areas of Lagos last year and has been strict toward compliance by motorcyclists who sometimes defile the law stipulated by the government.
Motorcycle is a means of transportation used by many Nigerians and a source of livelihood to many Nigerians as well. The Okada Riders as they are called by Nigerians are riders that used their motorcycle as a cab to convey people from one destination to another.
Although the motorcyclist have violated the law of Lagos, but the government should temper justice with mercy, as the motorcycle can be the only source of livelihood for many.
