Gov Uzodimma Says Those Behind Recent Imo Attacks Have Willingly Confessed

Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State, said some persons have confessed to being behind recent attacks on government properties in Imo State.

The governor disclosed this on Saturday, 22 May, 2021 at a meeting with Samuel Uche, Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria.

He said that, the names of these confessed persons will soon be made public.

He then urged the church to partner with government to put an end to insecurity in the state. According to him, government alone cannot put an end to violence, kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery, destruction of lives and properties, killing of security personnels and burning of government facilities that is ravaging the state, without prayers and support from the church.

Finally, he promised his administration will play decent politics as he noted that the various challenges experienced in the state is as a result of previous bad governance.

It could be recalled that over the past months, unknown gunmen have attacked security facilities in Imo State. This include the attacks on police headquarters and correctional centre in Owerri, its capital.
