Kidnapping

Gunmen killed two, abducted church members in Kogi

Reports gathered via a source in Kogi State revealed that how gunmen attacked an ECWA Church located on the express way in Okedayo – Kabba, in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, North Central Nigeria.

In August this year, recall that gunmen also killed seven persons and razed 250 houses in some communities, in Miango chiefdom of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau, according to a statement by the Iregwe Development Association (IDA) in Jos.

Let us stand back to look at our nation. Let us rid our minds of bias and politics. We have the world’s worst security crisis here today. It’s been like that for a while. But trust us, especially the political leaders, not to acknowledge. For them, it is about looking good for the cameras.

Although, Police Public Relations Officer, Kogi State Command, Williams Ayah have confirmed the incident and said, several undisclosed numbers of worshippers have been reportedly abducted, where two of them were killed while worshippers were in for Sunday Church service.

Just in this same Nigeria, having Retired Major General as the President, two persons, were weekend reportedly killed by unknown gunmen at Okpochiri village in Ukwagba Ngbo Community, Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State in the month of August as well.

Meanwhile, in this same Kogi, where unknown gunmen struck, killing soldiers and setting free about 240 inmates at the prison facility in Kabba, Kogi State, while two poultry farmers, and one other man have been kidnapped in the community.

The Pastor of the church was reportedly taken away and one of those killed was identified as Gbenga Reuben. The church is situated along the Express way of Kabba, Okene road. This is an incredibly sad and abnormal situation, but I think the first thing to do is for us to acknowledge exactly where we are, if we shall ever find solutions to our security quagmire.
