The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that its quest to expand the existing polling units (PUs) across the country was to bring the units closer to the people, particularly at public places. INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), Festus Okoye, said this on Friday in Abuja at a technical workshop for heads of its electoral operations department on the implementation of voter access to polling units.

Gunmen abduct 15 Oyo residents in one month, collect millions of naira as ransom

Facts have emerged on how some gunmen suspected to be kidnappers stormed Ibadan and other major cities in Oyo State to kidnap no fewer than fifteen (15) people. DAILY POST reports that no fewer than fifteen (15) residents of the state have been kidnapped in the last one month.

Our correspondent recalls that the victims were kidnapped at different locations in Ibadan and other cities, including Fiditi town. The majority of those kidnapped were abducted in Oluyole local government area in Ibadan, which falls under the Oyo Central District currently represented by Senator Teslim Folarin (APC).

Nnamdi Kanu Reveal Those Behind Bank Robbery

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has accused the Department of State Services (DSS) of being behind the robbery of a bank in Anambra State.

It may be recalled that Naija News Thursday reported that gunmen attacked a bank in Anambra State and also hoisted a Biafra flag at the bank premises. Reacting in a post on his Twitter handle on Friday night, the IPOB leader also accused South-East governors of sponsoring the robbery.

Troops eliminate top ISWAP commanders

The Nigerian Army says troops of Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD) have eliminated 13 top commanders and scores of fighters of Islamic States West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno. The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Yerima in a statement on Friday said that the feat was achieved by well-coordinated operations of both air and land troops.

Commandant calls for more synergy among security agencies

AVM Ebenezer Alade, Commandant of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji, on Friday called for more synergy among security agencies to effectively combat the security challenges in the country. Alade appealed to Jaji, Kaduna State while closing the 2021 defense and security symposium organized for students of Senior Course 43. The need for synergy among security agencies to effectively combat security challenges in the country is vital,” he stressed.

Abia places security agencies on alert over plot to attack key locations

The Abia government has raised the alarm over alleged plots to attack key locations in the state. In a statement on Friday, John Okiyi Kalu, the information commissioner, said security agencies have been placed on “high alert. The commissioner said the identity of those behind the planned attacks is yet to be ascertained. He urged residents of the state to be vigilant and ensure they return home before the curfew hours.
