According to a report gathered from Sahara Reporters, bandits have struck again, this time, they have abducted, another set of school children in Zamfara State. It has been reported that gunmen in large numbers, on motorcycles, stormed Kaya Junior Secondary School. The school has been described to be located, at Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The school was attacked on Wednesday, afternoon.

It was reported that after shooting sporadically, the bandits, abducted a large number of students from the school. It has become almost a norm for bandits, terrorizing some Northern States to abduct, school children. These notorious bandits, abduct innocent school children, and in return demand a huge amount of money as ransom. It's saddening to know, the recent abduction comes a few weeks after, some students, and teachers of a college of education in Zamfara State, were abducted.

There have been similar cases, of the abduction of school children, in Katsina State, Sokoto State, Kaduna State, and Niger State. We have continued to see the same pattern of the abduction, of school children across, these states. While some of the children are still in captivity, others are being abducted. Despite, the presence of military troops, these bandits, have continued to succeed in their attacks. There has never been a time, where it was reported that bandits failed in their attempt, to abduct children, which raises concerns about the safety, of school children in these states.

Since the past abduction of students in these Northern States, I will say, there have been some costly mistakes, that have led to the recurrence of these abductions.

What are the proactive measures, the States Government has put in place, to curb the abduction of school children, after previous attacks? School cannot remain shut, because of the problem of abduction. But the government should be able to secure the safety of students. Also, why has the government not been able to investigate, the pattern by which the attacks are carried out?

I believe, if the government had done an investigation on previous attacks, it will help them understand, how they can stop bandits. It is disappointing to see, that bandits find it easy to abduct students. If by now, these bandits, continue to succeed in their attacks, and abduction of school children, how do we end the menace of banditry?
