#EndSARS Memorial: Was The Police Right To Harass The Female Journalist For Flying A Drone?

It was seen on news on Wednesday how the Lagos State Police harassed a female journalist who works with Arise News TV.

Yesterday was supposed to be a memorial to honor the death of youths that lost their lives during the #EndSARS protest. Although the Lagos State Police had earlier positioned themselves at the tollgate to ensure there is peace in the area.

The Arise TV reporters got there earlier to ensure they captured all the happenings. But the female reporter was harassed by the police because they had a drone in the sky. We are in a new era where drones can serve as a news gathering gadget to capture content.

The police were seriously harassing them to take it down. For me, I don't think the police were right to have harassed the lady the way they did.

Why were they even disturbing them to take down the drone? What were they trying to hide? I know that there was nothing serious happening there that the police were trying to cover up, but harassing the lady like that was uncalled for.

Aside from the fact that she is a woman, she is a journalist with a reputable media house.

We know that the police were trying to prevent what happened last year not to repeat itself, but I think, journalists have the right to capture any news, provided it does not go against the law.
