According to recent reports, an outbreak of what seems to be a strange disease has caused tension in the Kano Municipal, Kombotso, and Gwale local government areas in Kano State. This was after some residents showed strange symptoms such as severe vomiting and blood mixed In their urine after they reportedly consumed poisonous sachet water and local drinks.
However, The National Agency For Food, Drug, Administration, and Control (NAFDAC) said they're investigating to find out the cause of it. Shaba Muhammad who's the state coordinator of the agency added that they've collected samples from the poisonous water and it has been sent to their lab in Kaduna for proper analysis and experiment.
Thankfully, victims of the yet-to-be-identified disease have been sent to the hospital for treatment.
It's also suspected that the poisonous sachet water and local drinks were made with expired and adulterated products.
Before using any manufactured food products or drinks, make sure you check for the NAFDAC number on it. Food and drinks with NAFDAC numbers are safe for usage, consuming food products without NAFDAC is risky and it could lead to a tragic story.
