Unknown gunmen attack police station, abduct female cop in Enugu

There was pandemonium at the Police Divisional Headquarters, Umulokpa, in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State following an attack by yet-to-be-identified gunmen on Saturday.

Vanguard gathered that the gunmen stormed the police division at about 5pm in their numbers and started shooting sporadically, damaging the facility in the process.

A resident of the area who spoke on condition of anonymity said that policemen, on sighting the gunmen scampered for safety, abandoning the division in the process.

Peter Obi has berated the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, for saying the federal government was considering imposing a state of emergency in Anambra ahead of the November 6 gubernatorial election.

The former governor of Anambra, Mr Obi, while speaking on Arise TV on Monday, said it was ironic that the federal government was considering a state of emergency in Anambra whereas Nigeria as a whole was facing dire security challenges.

“Saying that they want to declare a state of emergency in Anambra because of insecurity should actually mean that they need to declare a state of emergency in Nigeria because if you want to declare a state of emergency in Anambra because of insecurity, you have to declare a state of emergency in Nigeria because of insecurity,” Mr Obi said.

Ajimobi, Oke have hijacked Oyo APC – Group raises alarm

A group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, the Concerned APC Stakeholders has raised an alarm over alleged hijack of the party’s structure by Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, wife of the immediate past Governor of the State, late Abiola Ajimobi and the acting Chairman of the party, Chief Akintola Oke.

Chairman of the group, Mr. Olusoji Adelana made this disclosure while addressing journalists on Monday.

Adelana told journalists that the duo of Mrs. Ajimobi and Oke have hijacked the structure of the party.

He alleged that the duo hijacked the structure of the party by claiming to have federal backing.

He explained further that what happened during the time of late Ajimobi where many people left the party was repeating itself.

Emmanuel not defecting to APC, says Akwa Ibom PDP

Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Peoples Democratic party on Monday debunked allegations of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s planned defection to the All Progressive Congress, saying people are using it to draw attention to themselves.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President, Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd) on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Ita Enang had, while speaking on Talk-Radio show of the Inspiration FM, Uyo, claimed that the governor was making subtle moves to join the APC.

Enang, who cited the governor’s recent romance with APC stakeholders, including the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Senate President, Dr. Ahmed Lawan who were in the state for projects inauguration, concluded that ‘ Udom Emmanuel is now a member of the APC.’
