Take it or leave it, the government has a serious stake in the maintenance of law and order, and that is why the government even exists, because only it has the legitimate instrument of coercion. Nevertheless, lawlessness is a manifestation of failure to secure citizens on the part of the government. Moreover, it is also the constitutional responsibility of government as well as social contractual obligations of citizens to put a stop to the fast spread of the reign of terror being unleashed on Nigerians.

According to a report by Premium Times, the Kaduna state commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, has again disclosed in a statement on Tuesday, that Nigerians troops in a combined ground and air assault in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area have neutralized over 50 armed bandits were killed. Daily, these bandits are being killed and arrested by security operatives but it seems they are not ending.

Although with the new state-of-the-art of military equipment in the navy, army, and Airforce, bandits are being routed out of their enclaves and hideouts in the thick forest of Zamfara, Katsina, Niger, Sokoto, and Kaduna. The activities of these criminal forces have been reduced a lot through the application of the Sri Lanka Approach, which is to shut down telecommunications networks, closure local markets, and restriction of movements in areas that are prone to attacks by bandits.
