Nigeria Emerges Country With Worst Electricity Supply:

Nigeria has overtaken the Democratic Republic of Congo with 25 percent of people without access to electricity, making it the country globally with the highest number of citizens that lack access to power.

World Bank Group Practice Manager, West, and Central Africa Energy, Ashish Khanna, disclosed this in his presentation during a virtual engagement with reporters in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to him, "Nigeria now has the largest number of unelectrified people globally and the trend is worsening; of the electrified, the supply is very unreliable with widespread blackouts.


April FAAC: Fed Govt forces states to accept N680b:

After hours of resistance, the Federal Government on Thursday forced states and local governments to share N680.687 billion as allocation for this month.

The much-awaited April 2020 Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting which kicked off before noon with the technical session, was still ongoing as of press time last night.

A source told The Nation that at 5 pm that the plenary session collapsed when the state governments demanded to share the entire revenue generated for the month.


JUST IN: Boko Haram attacks Giedam, home town of IGP

Boko Haram insurgents have attacked Geidam town, the country home of Acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali.

The Nation gathered the attackers are currently at the heart of the town, burning shops and shooting sporadically in a gun battle with troops.

Details of the attack are sketchy but The Nation learnt all residents have run away for safety.

Yobe Police Public Relation Officer, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the attack.

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday, greeted the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom on his 60th birthday.

A statement by presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, conveyed Buhari’s message.

It said the President joined family and friends to celebrate the Governor and thank God for a life of service to his state and the nation.
