Abia Warriors today showed superiority and class as they edged visiting Rangers Int'l by a lone goal in one of the Matchday 10 of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional football league fixture played today at the Okigwe township stadium.
The Warriors second oriental derby game of the current season was earlier postponed from 14 to 15 Feb owing to good reasons so as to have a double header on the screen.
Abia Warriors Paul Samson who returned back to the team after missing a couple of games owing to Injury savaged maximum points for the Umuahia warlords as his audacious strike was all the Imama Amapakabo tutored side needed to record it's second win of the season.
Many highlight and talking points emanated from the keenly contested fixture, on this piece we will take five outstanding talking points.
1. IMAMA IS A GENIUS Former Rangers Int'l and Super Eagles assistant coach showed the reason why he is a 'Genius ' and arguably why he is the best in the league.
The Abia Warriors gaffer showed his technical prowess in the game after his side was reduced to 10men as he effected changes which showed his level of Game management.
With the matching order given to influenctial Daniel Wotlai, Imama Amapakabo threw in Anthony Okemmiri in the foray and removed Christain Samuel so as to have a complete four man defence, a strategy which worked perfectly well.
Regardless being a man down, the Amapakabo tutored side maintained their free flowing pattern keeping one man infront.
2. FORM IS TEMPORARY, CLASS IS PERMANENT
Veteran Utility player, Markson Ojobo, showed his class in the highly technically game as he expertly marshalled the defence line.
Regardless being widely known as a right full back since his youthful years with Enyimba Int'l, Ojobo has showed how well he can perform from the Centre back position.
Filling the space of Suspended, Harrison Ibukun, Markson Ojobo showed off class, experience and maturity as he marshalled the Warriors defence line ruggedly to ensure a clean sheet for his side.
3. UNDERRATED GODSPOWER ANIEFIOK
The former Akwa United and Etoile Du sahel midfielder is one of a hell of talent midfielder who is quiet underrated in the league.
The towering midfielder who can operate from the middle of the middle of the park as well from the supporting striker role was a beauty to behold as he formed an outstanding partnership with Shedrack Asiegbu and Tony Shimaga.
His deft touches and intricating through balls had his side maintain dominance after the Warriors team were short to ten men.
4. CONSISTENT OLORUNLEKE
The Abia Warriors goalkeeper has been in a terrifc form for the Umuahia warlords and has iced it with many incredible saves.
As usual, the save specialist pulled two stunning saves on two occassions to keep his side on level terms and stood his ground to ensure his team gets a good result.
He sure deserve a National team call up.
5. IMAMA & HIS BOYS
One can easily deduce how intimate Imama Amapakabo is with his players as they always rush towards his side in celebration.
The boys are genuine lovers of the former League wining gaffer, they boys has openly on numerous occasions express their love for him and how they intend to play their heart out for the Okirika born gaffer.
The team in recent time has aligned well with tbe philosophy of the coach and thats the more reason they team play beautifully well and score extraordinary goals on their good day.
