Milan defender Simon Kjaer has insisted the Rossoneri are out to prove themselves against Liverpool in the Champions League. ‘We have grown physically and mentally,' he said.
The Danish centre back is getting ready for their first Champions League game away to Anfield as the San Siro giants prepare to prove themselves.
After so many years of absence, Milan are back in the European Championships and the Denmark international feels coach Stefano Pioli has prepared them for the opening game against the Reds.
During a press conference, Kjaer said: “We have prepared well. We are at a good point in our path, we have grown a lot and now we must demonstrate."
“We play football for games like this. Not many believe that we can go there and play for it, but that’s our mentality.
“With the utmost respect, but we will play, as against any team," he concluded.
Simon believes he has improved tremendously with the team since joining in January 2020.
He added: “I also think I’m playing my best football, but I only play well if the team does well. We need the same mentality, Liverpool are a very strong side, but in my opinion we have grown both physically and mentally compared to the last game in Europe."
“Tomorrow, it will be difficult, but I know the coach wants us to go there and play for Milan. We are there to prove that we are not on holiday.”
