After Breaking One Of Ronaldo's La Liga Records, Benzema Is On Track To Break Messi's Record As Well

Football records are meant to be broken. Whenever a record is set, it always looks as if no one is ever going to match it until someone does.

Benzema's Record-Breaking Numbers

Karim Benzema is currently on the form of his life at Real Madrid and he is producing unbelievable numbers on the field. He is currently top scorer and top assist provider in la liga and across Europe.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are arguably the greatest players to play in la liga and Benzema is on track to smash some of their impressive records. Here is a Ronaldo/Messi record that he has already broken so far this season:

Benzema Breaks Ronaldo' And Messi's G/A Records

Karim Benzema has played in 6 la liga matches this season. In these 6 matches, Benzema has produced 8 goals and 7 assists. This made him the player with the highest goal contribution after 6 games in la liga history (15 G/A).

The previous record was held by Cristiano Ronaldo in 2014 with 13 goals and 2 assists while Messi is a close third with 8 goals and 5 assists in 2011.

Prime Ronaldo and Messi:

This particular record that Benzema broke is surprising because it was set by prime Messi and Ronaldo when they were at the top of their games. Karim Benzema breaks this record at 34 years of age.

It's obvious that Benzema practically got better as he got older and it would be crazy to write him off from breaking even more records this season. He is on target to smash Messi's assist record as well:

Benzema And Messi's Assist Record

The current record for most assists in a single la liga season is held by Lionel Messi with 21 assists. If Benzema continues his current form, breaking Messi's assist record will be inevitable.

Benzema currently has 7 la liga assists in just 6 games. With 32 games left in the season, Benzema is 14 assist short of Messi's record breaking numbers. Of course this is more difficult to achieve than it looks because the season gets tougher as time goes by.

Benzema Current Form Is Not A Coincidence

Benzema's recent goal contribution numbers are not as a result of a miracle or a coincidence. The team itself has gotten better (attacking-wise).

In the past few years, Karim Benzema has been performing well individually but his underperforming attacking partners affected him in one way or another. In previous seasons, Real Madrid found it hard to score whenever Benzema wasn't playing at his best.

This has severely improve this season with the likes of Gareth Bale, Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio and most especially Vinicius Junior playing at their best. This all-together has obviously helped Benzema play better and produce better numbers.

Is Karim Benzema The Most Complete Striker In The World?

Traditional football strikers have one aim while playing and that is to score. In the modern game, striker roles have changed and the centre-forwards are much more involved in the buildup and midfield.

Karim Benzema personifies this ability to track back and get involved while on attacking duties. His ability to score goals and also be part of the creative buildup is what makes him among the most complete strikers in the world.
