Chelsea vs Man City: Injury Updates

Pep Guardiola will have to make a late choice on his starting lineup for Saturday's game against Chelsea due to injury worries with several of his players.

Pep Guardiola considers himself 'fortunate' ahead of a crucial week for City.

Last weekend's stalemate with Southampton was missed by Aymeric Laporte, Rodrigo, John Stones, and Oleksandr Zinchenko, while Ilkay Gundogan was also out with a knock.

Laporte and Stones, as well as Rodrigo, were spotted at training on Thursday, but Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said that a handful of players are still not fully healthy, but he did not identify who will miss the trip to Stamford Bridge.

At his pre-match press conference, he noted, "We still have a few injuries."

“Some of them have returned to training a little bit, and we will decide whether or not they are ready to play tomorrow.

“Not all of them are up for grabs. Some of them are returning to training today, but we'll have to wait and see how they react tomorrow.

Christian Pulisic and Mason Mount have been ruled out for Chelsea, but Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that goalkeeper Eduoard Mendy is fit again and will start.

We've lost our last three games with the West Londoners, including a heartbreaking loss in the Champions League final last season.

Guardiola feels that by learning from that experience, he will be able to improve his performance on Saturday, however he concedes that despite Chelsea's recent success in this match, he will not change his approach.

“We prepare for the game the same way we prepare for Southampton and the previous games,” he continued.

Try to figure out what they are and what we've done against Chelsea in recent games under Tuchel. Every game presents a new challenge, as well as an opportunity to learn, grow, and develop.

“This isn't an FA Cup final, and the Premier League was already decided. The Champions League is, without a doubt, enormous. We make an effort to learn.

“This is a brand-new contest. It's yet another game. We prepare for the game by focusing on our strengths and determining what we can do to improve.

“That's the way we think. Before the international break, it will be the same versus Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool.”
