COVID-19: Another top Super Eagles star set to miss AFCON qualifiers

The last definitely has not been seen in the alteration COVID-19 will continue to cause within sporting circles.

Several international sporting events including the Tokyo Olympics have been affected one way or the other by the coronavirus pandemic.

In trying to play as safe as possible, two of the players invited for the Super Eagles’ game against Benin Republic and Lesotho now look set to miss the AFCON qualifying games.

As suggested on the Nigeria Football Federation offcial Twitter handle, the invited players from France may not be released for the March 27 and 30 games.

The two players based in France from the 24 players invited by coach Gernot Rohr is Samuel Kalu and Simon Moses.

Before now, Kalu has dropped out injured and while offficialy confirming Henry Onyerkuru as his replacement, Rohr also confirmed Paul Onuachu as the replacement for the other France-based Moses.

The days ahead may witness a handful of other withdrawals as teams are really trying to be cautious with this COVID-19 issue.
