Premier League

Chelsea must pay at least €120m to re-sign former attacking star

Chelsea will have to pay €120 million to bring Romelu Lukaku back from Inter Milan this summer, according to transfer reports from Tuttosport (h/t Mirror).

Lukaku joined Chelsea from RSC Anderlecht in 2011 but was loaned out to West Bromwich Albion and Everton before joining permanently in 2014 for £28 million.

At Goodison Park, the Belgian international became one of the most consistent goal scorers in the Premier League, and he also enjoyed a productive two-year spell with Manchester United before joining Inter Milan in 2019.

Lukaku has elevated his game since going to Italy, putting in two spectacular seasons, the second of which finished with him helping the Nerazzurri to the Serie A title. Even though Belgium was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Euro 2020 competition, he was in fantastic form.

Chelsea are looking to sign a new striker this summer after losing Olivier Giroud to AC Milan and the futures of Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham remain questionable. Erling Haaland has emerged as the Blues’ favoured transfer target to bolster the attack, but a move is proving to be difficult due to his £160m valuation. (Image courtesy of Mirror)
