Nigeria Team Of The Week: Odion Ighalo, Emmanuel Dennis, Taiwo Awoniyi, Amoo, Olawoyin Exhilarating

Following a weekend where the top Nigerian players emphasised their qualities, we pick the best XI with Odion Ighalo, Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis shinning like million stars.

Daniel Akpeyi - Kaizer Chiefs

Certainly does not have the strongest defence in front of him and was consequently tested for the whole game. Yet the one-man wall still pulled off save after save and thanks to him Chiefs took the points. Single-minded.

Leon Balogun - Rangers

The Nigerian was supreme and didn't allow Eamonn Brophy have any breathing space. As always anticipated danger before it happened and made defending look easy. Resolute.

Semi Ajayi - West Brom

The Arsenal product was on top form once again and showed his worth in the 3-0 annihilation of Bristol City. Indomitable.

Zaidu Sanusi - FC Porto

Absolutely solid in defence yet got up field on several occasions and while having a shot blocked he also put in a couple of dangerous crosses. Determined.

Chidera Ejuke - CSKA Moscow

The tricky lad had his fingers in every pie and was menacing at the left flank. He popped up with a dynamic and precise equaliser. Vibrant.

Alhassan Yusuf - Royal Antwerp

The Nigerian Kante completely dominated the midfield and helped pepper Club Brugge players in the tension soaked 1-1 draw. Unrelenting.

Ibrahim Olawoyin - Keçiörengücü

The explosive winger did well to announce himself to the Turkish audience with a brace at weekend. It was what he deserved. Persistent.

Akinkunmi Amoo - Hammarby

Always in the mix, had a couple of efforts on goal himself and set up one goal before scoring the winner. Purposeful.

Emmanuel Dennis - Watford

Dennis could not have asked for a better game after climbing off the bench against Everton. He set up two goals before capping a brilliant contribution with the final nail in the coffin for the Toffess. Refreshing.

Taiwo Awoniyi - Union Berlin

A superb performance and in only his ninth game of the Bundesliga season he repaid his Coach’s confidence with a goal. He continued to cause problems. Invigorating.

Odion Ighalo - Al Shabab

You can never allow him a moment’s grace. The former Manchester United forward screamed home two goals as Al Shabab ran out 2-0 winners over Al Ittihad. Exhilarating.
