Chelsea FC fans celebrates clubs Legend, Didier Drogba.

The retired Ivorian professional striker, Didier Drogba on this day, sixteen (16) years ago, officially became a Chelsea player. Didier Drogba was signed for a record fee of £24million from Olympique de Marseil, becoming the most expensive player in the history of Ivory Coast.

During his first spell in Chelsea, the former Ivorian professional striker, Drogba, was instrumental to the clubs back to back premier league title win, in his first two (2) years, in the club.

In his 254 appearances for the blues, Didier Drogba was able to hit the back of the net 104 times, with a total of 54 assists. Becoming the first African player in the Premier League to have reached that margin.

On his return in the 2014/2015 season, after leaving the club for two (2) seasons, Didier Drogba again, helped the club in becoming the Premier League Champions. Though he mostly came in from the substitution.

Before his retirement, the veteran striker won all the major trophies in England. These includes 4 Premier League cups, 4 FA Cup, and 3 Calling cups. He also won the Champions League with the blues in 2012.

Since the retirement of the Ivorian professional striker from Chelsea, only Diego Costa has come close to filling the vacuum created by Drogba. He is that strike that knows how to score Arsenal FC with ease.
