Real Madrid on Wednesday kept their hopes of finishing the Spanish LaLiga season as the second-best team, following their hard-fought 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Los Blancos entered the game off the back of their disappointing 1-0 loss to Valencia in their previous outing, and they were looking for a victory on Wednesday against Rayo Valecano to bounce back to the winning ways.
Real Madrid started the game on a promising note, dominating possession and then forcing their visitors to sit back and defend. The deadlock was broken in the 31st minute when Karim Benzema's left-footed effort defeated the Rayo Valecano goalkeeper to give his team a well-deserved lead. However, the visitors leveled the game in the 84th minute when Raul del Thomas's left-footed effort defeated the Real Madrid goalkeeper before Rodrygo seal the victory for his team in the 89th minute when scored a stunning goal from outside the box.
