The blues has had an impressive start to the new season; however, their unbeaten run was ended by Manchester City on Saturday. While they made two signings during the summer, only Romelu Lukaku has had an ideal start to his second spell at the club.
In this article, our major area of interest is those players who were crucial for the blues last season but have been struggling so far this season. Although not all of Chelsea's player has been performing at their best yet, however, there are some whose performances have not been good at all. In this article, we will analyze two of them.
After they suffered defeat against City in the Premier League on Saturday, it is only normal for Chelsea to regroup and go again without dwelling much on the defeat. However, in doing this, there are some players that must step up and improve in their performances. Below we will analyze two Chelsea players whose performances so far has not been up to their usual standard and must step up if Chelsea will be able to go far in all competition this season.
1. Ngolo Kante.
Ahead of their clash against Manchester City, Thomas Tuchel was quoted in an interview explaining the qualities that Ngolo Kante possesses. However, many of those things were not seen in his performance in their defeat against City. Although the French man has had to deal with some niggling injuries in recent times, however since his return, he has not been performing at the required level yet and that has seen him being taken off in games occasionally.
No one can doubt Kante's ability on and off the ball, therefore for Chelsea to do well in all competition this season, the World cup winner must step up.
2. Mason Mount.
What a boy he is! The English midfielder has had a smooth transition from the Chelsea's academy to their first team via a loan spell at Derby County. He was instrumental for the club under Frank Lampard, and Thomas Tuchel has found him useful too. After participating in the Euro 2020 this summer, the youngster came back a bit tired and this has probably affected is performances. Undoubtedly, Chelsea need him and like Kante, he must step up for the blues.
