Atletico Madrid got into late La Liga action today as they travelled to face Real Betis at Estadio Benito Villamarin in what was said to be the final game of the competition. The Spanish side tutored by Diego Simeone were looking to regain their first position on the league table by defeating the host Real Betis in a race for the La Liga title.
Atletico Madrid had a bright start to the game as Yannick Carrasco open the scoring in the 5th minute to put his side 1-0 ahead against the home-team Real Betis. Cristian Tello restored parity to his side as he found the back of the net to make the scoreline level at 1-1 in the 20th minute of the game.
Neither side could take the lead in the first half as they both went into the halftime break with an even 1-1 scoreline courtesy of goals from Yannick Carrasco and Cristian Tello.
Despite both sides several attempts on goal, no goals were still scored in the second half as they eventually settled for a disappointing 1-1 draw at the end of the match. The spoils were shared on the night.
