Leicester City Get Their Hands On The Community Shield

The Foxes defeated Premier League champions Manchester City 1-0 at Wembley to win the Community Shield for the second time. It comes exactly 50 years after the Club's only other success in the competition. City will open the 2021/22 Premier League season against Wolves next weekend.

The Foxes, who won the Emirates FA Cup for the first time last season, had another memorable moment in the season opener thanks to a penalty from Kelechi Iheanacho.

After winning the 113-year-old competition exactly 50 years ago, they are now two-time winners of the Community Shield, adding to a trophy cabinet that includes victories in English football's major competitions, including the Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup.

Brendan Rodgers' side will compete in the UEFA Europa League for the first time this season, marking the first time they have competed in consecutive European competitions.

LCFC.com will provide reaction and analysis to City's second Community Shield success in the coming days, ahead of the Foxes' Premier League season opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers at King Power Stadium on Saturday (3pm BST kick-off).
