On Saturday, Kwara Football Academy (KFA) U-17 team won their second trophy of the year following a 2-0 victory over Team Ondo at the National U-17 Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) tournament.
The Sky Blue Dragons secured the trophy courtesy of a second-half double from Godwin Oshagbemi.
Akure City Football Academy, the academy representing Ondo State, started the game as the better side. They controlled possession and entertained the spectators with their skills.
However, they were reduced - to ten men after the referee sent off Ajayi Festus in the first half. The boys held on and went into the halftime break goalless.
Team Ondo, started the second period the way they concluded the first half. They dominated possession and entertained the fans with their skill and movement.
As the game goes on, they got tired, and KFA grew into the game. The Skyblue Dragons opened the scoring through the boots of Godwin Oshagbemi.
The young midfielder had a solo run into the box before slotting the ball past the goalkeeper. A few minutes later, he got his double from a layoff free-kick which fired into the right-bottom corner.
KFA, representing Team Kwara, held on for the victory to win their second trophy this year. Earlier in the year, the boys won the 2021 Ramat Cup tournament in Kano.
