Super Eagles star David Okereke on Wednesday night inspired Philippe Clement led Club Brugge to a convincing 6-1 victory, over Olsa Brakel football club in the Belgium Cup at Jan Breydel Stadium.
The Nigerian international who has been finding it so hard to break into his team's first eleven since the beginning of 2020/2021 season despite having a good outing for the club last season, scoring many goals for the club in all competitions, but he has seen his playing time limited this season.
Coach Philippe Clement gave the Nigerian star a starting role in the home team's attack, and he was able to impress despite not finding the back of the net as he contributed to two goals.
Hans Vanaken opened scoring for the home team in the 2nd minutes, while Kevin Haezebroeck equalized few days later, before Youssouph Badji put the home team ahead again in the 21st minutes via an assist from David Okereke, as the first half ended 2-1.
Club Brugge extended the lead in the 51st minutes through an own goal from Robin, before Youssouph Badji netted a brace and a Tahith Chong's goal were enough to give the home team the deserved victory.
David Okereke was superb for the home team in the game, and he was able to last the whole duration on the pitch.
The 6-1 victory over Olsa Brakel FC now means Club Brugge have qualified for the next round of the competition.
