‘Best in the world right now’ - Jamie Carragher reacts to Mohamed Salah wonder goal vs Watford

After Mohamed Salah's wondergoal against Watford on Saturday, Jamie Carragher praised him as the best player in the world on current form. Prior to the trip to Vicarage Road, the Egypt international had scored nine goals in as many games, including a spectacular solo effort in a 2-2 draw with Manchester City a fortnight ago.

Salah returned to form after a two-week layoff, teeing up Sadio Mane with a beautiful outside-of-the-foot pass in the ninth minute, which might end up being the assist of the season. Soon after, Liverpool doubled their advantage when Roberto Firmino tapped home after a fluid play, and the Brazilian sealed the points just after the break when he scored from close range once more.

Salah, on the other hand, stole the show 10 minutes after the restart, sliding the ball beneath his studs, displaying incredible close control and turning away from five opponents before beating Ben Foster with a classic left-footed finish.

'Best player in the world right now, Mohamed Salah,' Carragher tweeted after the 29-year-old scored his eleventh goal of an increasingly productive season.

Meanwhile, BT Sport commentator Jermaine Jenas was virtually speechless and largely echoed Liverpool legend Carragher's sentiments. 'I felt he'd scored one of the goals of the season in his last game against Manchester City,' he added.

'Keep an eye on the feet here. Oh, my goodness, I'll see you later. He's thrown a few on the ground and whipped it into the bottom corner. 'This man is in the best form of his life right now, and it shows in the confidence with which he plays.
