Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, has revealed his reasons for dropping Zaidu Sanusi and replacing him with Rangers defender, Calvin Bassey, and if checked the reason may seem unjustified. He claimed his reason is because Sanusi has not feature in the last 5 games for his Portuguese club. This is a very ludicrous reason because Sanusi has been a great addition to the Super Eagles, he understands the team and dropping him for somebody that would never pick Nigeria as his first choice (if Scotland and Italy had called him), does not seem fair to the 24 year-old Porto left-back.
The idea of dropping Sanusi will only add to his misery and affect his morale and psychology as a football player. Meanwhile, Rohr has shared his excitement about the quality the 21-year-old, he believes Bassey will add so many qualities to the team, including his versatility to play as a centre-back.
Gernot Rohr also admits to the qualities of the Porto defender, and promised to invite him next time, when he resumes playing for his club. He also claims that he likes Zaidu Sanusi very much but it's also an opportunity to test a new player. Nigeria currently leads Group C with six points from two games, after beating Liberia and Cape Verde in their first two qualifying games. They will be playing against Central African Republic while on International break for the World Cup qualifiers.
