This means that the voting period for all 30 nominees on the shortlist has come to an end.
The winner, will be announced during a ceremony in Paris on November 29.
GFFN tweeted today, "Or vote for 2021 is now closed - the winner has been chosen – we will find out on November 29th."
The winner is chosen by a poll of journalists, national team coaches, and captains from throughout the world.
From the remaining 30 footballers, they will select their top five players.
Players will be ranked from first to fifth based on individual and collective performance during the year, player class, and an overall assessment.
The total points for each player from each journalist, coach, and captain are added together to decide third, second, and first place.
Paris Saint Germain player Lionel Germain's Messi is the clear favorite to win the trophy this year. The 34-year-old, who left Barcelona as a free agent this summer, will make his eighth appearance for the club.
Messi will face Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski, Chelsea's Jorginho and N'Golo Kante, and Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo
