Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta remains confident that Folarin Balogun will remain at the club beyond this summer despite contract talks stalling.
The Gunners have been in talks with the 19-year-old over signing an extension with his current deal expected to expire at the end of the season.
Balogun developed through Arsenal Academy, and he made his first-team debut last October in the Uefa Europa League with two goals to his name already in that competition.
When asked if the Nigerian descent is gradually leaving North London, Arteta said in a press conference on Thursday: “I wouldn’t say so. I am pretty positive about it. Every time I spoke to him he mentioned the same thing that he’s determined to stay here that he wants to stay here. We had some really positive conversations with his agent as well.
“Edu is in charge of that. He’s been spending a lot of time and energy to try and make that deal happen because it’s important for us to keep our talent in the house. What I can guarantee is that we’re doing everything we can to keep him.”
