Teenage Boxer Dies After Knockout

Five days after being knocked out in a professional battle, an adolescent boxer died.

Jeanette Zacarias Zapata, a Mexican welterweight, was knocked out in the fourth round by Marie Pier Houle at the GVM Gala International in Montreal on Saturday.

After being struck by a left uppercut and a right hook, she looked to have a seizure and was transported to the hospital.

Yvon Michel, the fight promoter, revealed the news on Thursday.

His statement stated, "It is with great grief and pain that we discovered, from a representative of her family, that Jeanette Zacarias Zapata is dead.

The organisers said in a statement that "the entire team at Groupe Yvon Michel team is profoundly concerned by this painful news," and expressed sympathies to the fighter's family.

Houle expressed her unhappiness with the outcome on Instagram.

"There are a lot of risks and dangers in boxing," she remarked. "This is what we do for a living, and it's what we're passionate about." My strategies never, ever include the desire to significantly harm an opponent."

"The president of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaimán, and the entire boxing family affiliated with the WBC, as well as all boxing, mourns this irreparable loss," the WBC said.

"We express our heartfelt condolences to Jeanette's family and friends. Let her soul rest in peace."
