Have you surrendered your life to Jesus who died that you may have eternal life?

TEXT: JOHN 18: 28 – 40

TOPIC: THE RIGHTEOUS IN PLACE OF THE CRIMINAL

Clearly, Jesus was not condemned because He broke any Law. Pilate engaged Jesus and reached the conclusion that “I find no basis for a charge against him” (verse 38b).

Perhaps by releasing Barabbas, the insurrectionist and terrorist, Pilate thought he could calm their hatred and outrage. But unknown to Pilate and murderous Jewish religious leaders, the script they were acting was the fulfillment of a prophecy which Jesus knew very well. When the religious leaders responded in anger when Pilate suggested releasing Jesus, they simply explained the purpose of Jesus’ coming: “No, not him! Give us Barabbas!” Jesus the righteous took the place of Barabbas, the sinner who stood condemned by every standard.

We have all sinned and deserve the eternal condemnation of God, but while we were yet sinners Jesus took the stand for us and died the death we were meant to do die.

QUESTION:

Have you surrendered your life to Jesus who died that you may have eternal life?

PRAYER:

Thank you Jesus for saving me from the life of sin and death by offering to die in my place so that, by grace through faith, today I stand redeemed, Amen.

Receive a special grace and mercy as you share this prayer with your friends and families in Jesus Christ name.
