Photos : English-born Leicester City defender Ashleigh Plumtre debuts for Nigeria

English Born defender Ashleigh Plumtre made her debut for the Super Falcons of Nigeria in 1-0 win over Olimpija Ljubljana in a friendly fixture at Vosendorf Stadium on Friday evening. 

The Leicester City defender was given the nod by coach Randy to start the game and she gave very good account of herself, according to reports. 

She partnered Chidinma Okeke in the heart of the defense and together they helped Nigeria keep a clean sheet.

The 23-year-old was substituted by coach Randy Waldrum in the second half of the encounter.

Desire Oparanozie scored the only goal of the game and it was her on her first game for Nigeria since 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup. 

The Dijon striker was named in the starting XI on Friday in Vienna and she marked her return with a free kick strike in the 16th minute of the encounter. 

The wrap up eight-day training camp for the African champions ahead of their upcoming international engagements, beginning with the Aisha Buhari Cup in September.

The players and officials are now expected leave the Austrian camp to their various clubs on Saturday, July 24.
