When Bartomue started his Presidency as Barcelona President when he replaced Sandro Rosell in 2014, his tenure at Barcelona didn't go down well as he was involved in tax fraud allegations over the signing of Neymar and just recently, he was among those that were arrested during a raid by the Catalain Police force.
With his resignation, Barcelona had the chance to elect a new president over this weekend in which three candidates were involved among which were Laporta, Font and Freixa.
For the election, Messi was also spotted casting his vote and after all votes, Joan Laporta emerged as the new Barcelona President beating his other colleagues with a total of 57.25%. Images below.
After I made my research especially after he got such huge vote, I was surprised when I saw the name "Joan Laporta" wasn't a new name as he has been involved in Barcelona affairs before.
Joan Laporta back in 2003-2010 was also the President of Barcelona and during that time, he appointed Frank Rijkaard and Pep Guardiola as managers and signed some of the biggest stars in football today (pictures below).
To also add to his achievement, during his reign was when Barcelona won Six titles (Sextuple) precisely 19 December, 2009.
No doubt, he would be a good President for Barcelona and hopefully, Messi stays in the club.
