Saul Niguez reveals the promise Tuchel made to him before joining Chelsea

Chelsea signed Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez on loan on transfer deadline day with an option to buy the 26 year old for £30million.

Saul Niguez has revealed he joined Chelsea because Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel intends to play him in his preferred central midfield position.

“Chelsea have guaranteed me to play in my position (midfield), but whether or not I play, we will see,” Sal added. The most essential reason for my decision is to return to some customs that I no longer practice.”

During his tenure at Atletico Madrid, Saul also expressed his dissatisfaction with not being able to play in his chosen center midfield position.

“I felt happy in the squad (Atlético) as always,” he continued. The main problem was that I felt trapped since I wasn't playing in my position (midfield). My mind refused to accept my new role as a player in a different position.

“I've had numerous talks with Cholo (Simeone) about my beliefs since they aren't new; I've been this way for three years. I owe him everything, and we have a wonderful connection, but he needs to be selfish and think about the group.

“He believes that with me on board, the group would perform better, and he is correct. However, in this case, all parties win. The club and coach bring in a player they want, and I join a fantastic club that adores me.”
