Enyimba winger Anayo Iwuala was in the headlines few weeks ago when the Super Eagles entertained the Squirrels of Benin Republic and the Crocodiles of Lesotho in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The 22-year-old was one of the new invitees into the Nigerian national team when he made the squad as one of the three home-based players against all odds.
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr was impressed by his output in training and he was thrown into the fray as a second half substitute against Benin Republic in Port Novo.
Anayo Iwuala caused some troubles and it was a fellow substitute Paul Onuachu that scored the crucial goal in the dying minutes of the match as Nigeria won the game 0-1.
With qualification secured, Gernot Rohr rested some of the players in the last Group L game versus Lesotho in Lagos including Joseph Ayodele Aribo who is the current custodian of the Super Eagles legendary number 10 jersey.
Anayo Iwuala was handed the rear opportunity to feature in the number 10 Jersey and it is an event the forward won't forget in a hurry.
"Feeling blessed and proud to have worn the legendary number 10 jersey for my debut with @NGSuperEagles. Thank you to coach and the team for the support and faith."
