Manchester United has a golden opportunity to mount a serious claim on the English premier league title this season. The only thing that could however turn that strong claim into bluster is United themselves.

The Red Devils are currently second on the Premier league table behind Manchester City. At the beginning of the season back in September last year, nobody could have predicted that Manchester United will be where they are today on the league table.

The favorite contenders for the title were Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspurs. Chelsea was added to the list solely because of the new Players that the club signed during the summer transfer window.

Midway through the season, Manchester United sits comfortably at the second spot on the league table ahead Champions Liverpool and Chelsea who spent big to sign new players.

Although, United fans have the impressive form of some players like Luke Shaw, Bruno Fernandez, Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford to be grateful for; the addition of Edison Cavani and Alex Telles to the squad has also helped to provide the needed motivation.

Take away injury woes from the equation, there's nothing stopping the red devils from winning the league this season.

The team needs to develop a very competitive spirit and go out each matchday with a strong conviction to get the maximum points.

Manchester City has a tight grip on the league, however it's the premier league. Big clubs drop points against smaller club every now and then. United just need to make sure they are there to make good use of that opportunity if it eventually comes.
