REPORTS: Manchester United making moves to sign a new right-back

Manchester United football club must be keen on winning their first major trophy under the management of Ole Gunner Solskjaer this season after a busy summer transfer window.

The Old Trafford side added some players to their squad during the summer in order to boost their chances of competing with the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea for the Premier League title.

However, the Red Devils have endured a difficult start to the season and are currently sitted in 6th position on the Premier League table ahead of their next league match against Watford.

And due to their poor run of form, Manchester United are keen on improving their defensive options and have been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier.

The 31-year-old England International, who joined Atletico Madrid after leaving Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in 2019 has been an important member of the first-team squad since he made the move.

The experienced right-back enjoyed a superb 2020/2021 season where he created six assists in 35 appearances in all competitions as Atletico Madrid won the La Liga title.

Kieran Trippier has also started the 2021/2022 season on a strong note and has made 15 appearances in all competitions, helping Atletico Madrid to 4th position on the La Liga table so far.

His impressive displays in defence and also his contribution to the attack is said to have attracted interest from Manchester United and accordng to reports from The Sun, the Red Devils are keen on signing him.

The reports further claimed that Manchester United are seemingly interested in Kieran Trippier and are already making moves to bring him to Old Trafford by offloading Diogo Dalot.

It was reported that Manchester United are set to offload young defender Diogo Dalot to AS Roma in order to fund a move for Kieran Trippier when the transfer window opens.

That said, it remains to be seen if Manchester United will be able to gather up the needed transfer fee to lure Kieran Trippier back to England to play for Manchester United next year.
