With 50 Clean Sheets, He Is One Of The Greatest Players To Have Ever Worn The Nigerian Shirt

Achievements are landmarks in life that live after the achiever who attained such great feats.

It so happens that the upcoming generation gets to know and reverence the personality.

In football, when we talk about talented goalkeepers from the African race, who have made us proud globally, one man's name can't be overemphasized. He is none other than ex-Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama.

Just as the likes of Jay Jay Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo, Taribo West, Rashidi Yekini and other great Nigerian footballers have sealed their place in the history books, Enyeama has done just that and at the moment no has matched his pedigree.

Prior to his invitation to the national team, Nigeria had been faced with goalkeeping problems, and were unlucky in their quest to get the perfect person for that position.

Then came the young man, Enyeama in the year 2002, before making his first international debut against Kenya in the month of May.

Since then till the year 2015 when he retired, Enyeama was a force to be reckoned with between the sticks. Not only for his national team, but also for the various clubs he played for within this period. With the national team, he made a record breaking 101 appearances of which he kept 50 clean sheets in the process, conceding only 77 goals.

He is the highest scoring African goalkeeper in history with 20 goals, and also the first goalkeeper to be named French Ligue 1 Player of the Season. He was just phenomenal.

Will Nigeria ever get a goalkeeper like Vincent Enyeama again?
