The current squad of Chelsea Football Club has set a new disturbing record in the club's history. The Blues will finish the 2022-23 campaign in the bottom half of the league table, their worst league finish in 27 years.
Frank Lampard's side were handed another defeat of the season by league champions Manchester City at the Etihad. A lone goal from Argentine forward Julian Alvarez helped the Cityzens clinch the title in style while also sealing Chelsea's league-table finish fate.
The loss to City means that the Blues will not finish in the top 10 this season. They are currently 11th on the table and will either drop further down or finish in their current position.
The last time the London club failed to finish in the top half of the table was in the 1995-96 campaign (27 years ago). This record goes to further show how badly the club has performed this term.
So far they have played 36 games and will face Manchester United next at Old Trafford, before closing the curtain on the season with a home game against Newcastle United.
