The Los Blancos will now focus on qualifying for the Champions League next season.
However, Villarreal and Girona opened the weekend with a battle at the Estadi Municipal. Gerard Moreno's late goal handed the away side a crucial three points. Atletico Bilbao outmuscled Celta Vigo just a few minutes after the Villarreal game. Inaki Williams and Nicholas Berenguer were the stars of the game as the home side come out victorious.
