Nigerian Midfielder Joins Belgian Club

Nigerian midfielder, Alhassan Yusuf is set to join Belgian club, Royal Antwerp and an agreement has been reached for €1.5m. This was revealed by transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano

The 20-year-old midfielder has been a shining light for Swedish club, IFK Goteborg and he won the Allsvenska cup with the Swedish side. Born in Kano, Nigeria, Yusuf was taken abroad by Tiki Taka football group where he impressed in a tournament. 

Before he was signed by Royal Antwerp, he was a subject of interest for other sides in Europe because of his skills. He had a 91% passing accuracy in the past Allsvenskan season and averaged 57.36 passes per game. Yusuf can play as a central midfielder, defensive midfielder or a right midfielder

He played for FC Hearts in Nigeria before he was taken to Sweden by Tiki Taka Development Group. The Academy is a Swedish Academy with another wing in Nigeria, from where Yusuf was spotted

The pacy midfielder's contract with IFK Goteborg runs till 2022 but his move to Royal Antwerp has surely cut it short. Yusuf got a trial with IFK Goteborg in 2017 after he impressed in the final of a scouting tournament in Sweden

Yusuf won the Allsvenkan Newcomer of the Year award in 2019. He is yet to play for Nigeria at international level
