UEFA Champions League

Spain Ends Italy’s 37 International Matches Unbeaten Run.

Goals from Ferran Torres were enough to end Roberto Mancini’s Italy 37 international matches unbeaten run when the two sides met on Wednesday night.

It was an exhilarating contest at the Euro 2020 semi-finals when the two teams last met, which saw Gianluigi Donnarumma heroically save two penalties at the Wembley stadium and secured a place in the finals for the Italians.

Torres opened the scoreline in the 17th minute with a sublime finish from a brilliant cross by Oyarzabal, the Machester City winger doubled the lead in the extra minutes of the second half with an assist from the same source to score his 12th goal in 21 matches for Spain, just minutes after Italian defender Leonardo Bonucci got sent-off after a second booking of the night.

Substitute Lorenzo Pellegrini pulled one back for the Italians 7 minutes before stoppage time but it was not enough to stop a defeat on home soil.

Spain progresses to the final of the UEFA Nations League after the 2-1 victory and meets the winner between Belgium and France in the other semi-finals of the competition. The finals will be played on 10th October, this time at the Stadio San Siro.
