It is no secret that coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's job is massively and seriously under threat, following a challenging run of underwhelming performances and inconsistent results in the ongoing 2021/2022 football season.
The Red Devils are winless in their last four Premier League matches - with Liverpool dishing out an embarrassing 5-0 defeat at Old Trafford last weekend, which further increased the pressure on the Norwegian manager. The United boss is underachieving with the current squad and it seems that the club will be wasting time leaving him in charge for much longer.
The club is lacking any kind of playing style and Solskjaer looks well out of his depth. His tactics and team selections have been openly criticized in recent weeks.
Even Ivorian defender Eric Bailly queried the rationale behind why club captain Harry Maguire started against Atalanta despite being unfit. Players have also questioned the unavailability of the likes of Donny van de Beek, Jesse Lingard and Nemanja Matic - who have either been unused or frozen out.
Manchester United have put up a shortlist of four managers that could replace the under fire Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The 20-time Premier League champions have penned down the names of Italian Antonio Conte, Frenchman Zinedine Zidane, Brendan Rodgers and Erik ten Hag in the event of when Solskjaer is relieved of his duties.
Antonio Conte and Zinedine Zidane are probably the leading candidates in the race due to the fact that they are proven winners and are without a job at the moment, though most United fans would like the Italian to come through the door at Old Trafford. Brendan Rodgers would be difficult to prise away from Leicester City, while former Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag would be an interesting option.
Solskjaer is definitely on his last legs at Old Trafford and it is only a matter of time before he is given the boot. He seems to have lost the dressing room and the time has come for him to move on, having overstayed his welcome and the club will need to make necessary changes if they want to challenge their rivals for the biggest silverware.
