UEFA Champions League

Chelsea outclass Juventus with 2-1 away win in their Group A UWCL game

Emma Haye's led Chelsea Women Football Club of England team were in action yesterday in their second game of the UEFA Women's Champions League against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium.

The last season finalist of the competition proved their relevance in the show of the night as they were able to bounce back to winning ways after their last disappointing 3-3 draw against VfL Wolfsburg in the opening game of the campaign.

The Blues were very impressive in the thrilling encounter as they outclassed the host with two goals to one scoreline at full time which as such placed them at the top of the Group A table.

The first half of the game was such a balanced one between the two sides as there was nothing separating them going into the half time break which ended one all draw.

Erin Cuthbert in the 31st minute of the game gave Chelsea the lead to make it one nil before Barbara Bonansea also got on the score sheet in the 37th minute to level up for the host to make it 1-1 at the break.

The tempo of the game in the second half got heated up as they both displayed some more dazzling skills but none was able to found the back of the net, until the 69th minute when Pernille Harder put the visitor ahead to make it two goals to one.

After every other attempts from both sides to add more to the tally of the night, all proved abortive as it ended two goals to one at full time.

The crucial away win for the visitor has now taken them to the top spot on the table with 4 points in 2 games played and as such be hoping to keep the winning streaks going in their next fixture, so as to continue their pursuit in the competition.
