Chelsea star becomes the EPL player with most goal-line clearances in league & UCL this season

English premier league giant, Chelsea FC defender Thiago Silva was in action yesterday for the Blues in their 5th game of the Group H UEFA Champions League ties against Juventus at the Stamford Bridge.

The former Paris Saint Germain star retained his spot in his team's starting XI having established himself as a key figure in the squad paraded by Thomas Tuchel since his arrival at the club late January.

Thiago Silva was at the heart of the defence line in the whole 90 minutes duration of the game which was instrumental in keeping a vital clean sheet that keep them at the top of the table and also booked a spot for them in the knockouts.

The 37 years old prolific defender put up a great defending for Chelsea at the 29th minute of the game to prevent his team from conceding a goal which could have been the equaliser for the visitor.

The host in the first half of the game took the lead with a goal from Trevoh Chalobah to make it one nil which was the only goal that separated the two sides going into the half time break.

The host in the second half were more dominating as they put up some more physical, tactical and technical displays and as such doubled their lead in the second half with a goal from Reece James to make it two goals to nil before Callum Hudson-Odoi made it three.

In the late minute to the end of the game, substitute Timo Werner wrapped up the win of the night for the Blues to make it four goals to nil at full time.

Thiago Silva with his top notch delivery in the game means no premier league player has made more goal-line clearances across league and European competition so far this season than the Brazilian ace (2).

Chelsea with the win now sit at the top of the table with 12 points in 5 games played and as such be hoping to keep the winning streaks going in their next fixture, so as to continue their pursuit in the competition.

Thiago Silva will also be looking forward to continuing his impressive run of form for the Blues in their next game, so as to keep helping the team in their title-defence campaign.
