Throwback to when Kevin Akpoguma faced Nigeria as a German youth international

Born in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Kevin John Ufuoma Akpoguma is a footballer who defends the colours of the Super Eagles.

He received his football education at Rot-Weiß Speyer, Schwarz-Weiß Speyer, FC Bavaria Wörth, FC Neureut 08 and Karlsruher SC.

The versatile lad has played senior football at Karlsruher SC, 1899 Hoffenheim, Fortuna Düsseldorf and Hannover 96.

Born to a German mother and Nigerian father, the 6 ft 4 in represented Germany at youth level, playing for the U16, U17, U18, U19, U20, and U21 teams.

He was the captain of Germany, helping the team reach the quarterfinals of the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand.

At the second round of the U20 World Cup, Akpoguma was a shinning light as Germany dumped out Nigeria. His father even cheered him during the game.

On 28 September he confirmed reports that he has decided to play for the Nigeria national team.

Akpoguma made his debut with the Nigeria national team in a friendly 1-0 loss over Algeria on 9 October 2020. He has also played four times for the Super Eagles.
